Michelle Wen is an artist, designer, and student currently living in Philadelphia, PA. She will graduate from the University of Pennsylvania in May 2025 with a BA in Fine Arts. Her work, largely centered around a painting practice with elements of mixed media deisgn and colalge, is often concerned with her Chinese-American identity. Having split her childhood across New York City and Shanghai, China, she is interested in exploring the boundaries and contrasts between vastly different cultural landscapes. Through the depictions of physical spaces, cultural symbols, and arvhical materials, different perceived worlds are forced into conversation with one another. Her most recent project, First Week in America, September 1991 (2025), focuses on the specificity of the immigrant experience, and the role of both natural and man-made landscapes within the development of a cultural narrative.
